TotalEnergies Fluids complies with European REACh (Registration Evaluation Authorization of Chemicals) legislation

All TotalEnergies Fluids substances manufactured or imported into Europe are registered under the REACh regulation.

What is REACh?

Adopted in 2006 by the Council of the European Union and entered into force on June 1, 2007, the REACh (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and restriction of Chemicals) regulation consists of registering chemical substances manufactured in or imported into the European Union in quantities of at least one tone per year.

This regulation aims to assess the impact of the use of chemicals on human health and the environment, while maintaining innovation and development. It consists of three phases:

  • Registration of substances: producers and importers must submit a dossier containing information on the hazard characteristics of products, risk assessment and appropriate management measures.
  • Dossier and substance evaluation: this stage verifies the conformity of dossiers, the validity of data and requests additional information. The evaluation of substances aims to verify that their use does not present any risk to human health or the environment.
  • Authorization: certain substances classified as being of very high concern are subject to authorization in order to limit the risks to humans and the environment.

REACh is supplemented by the CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) regulation on the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This regulation is itself based on the GHS classification system
