Specialty Fluids from 1921 to today..

A historical anchorage marked by industrial investments to adapt to the evolution of the markets. 

Today, we operate in most countries of the world and are known as TotalEnergies Fluids. We manufacture high-purity hydrocarbon specialty fluids for a wide range of applications, including cosmetics, animal vaccines, water treatment, crop protection, drilling fluids, inks and sealants, and many others. We have never ceased to be driven by a genuine pioneering spirit: production sites at the cutting edge of technology, an ever more elaborate and ever wider range of products, and constant concern for the safety of our teams. 

The history of TotalEnergies' Specialty Fluids began in 1921 with the creation of the Société de Droguerie et d'Hydrocarbures de Saint-Denis, renamed HSD "Société d'Hydrocarbures de Saint-Denis" seven years later.  Following an arson attack in 1968, production was transferred to the Normandy refinery. 
 
The plant in Oudalle (France) was built in the late 1960s and the one in Bayport (USA) started up in 2016. 

In 1989, Total acquired 100% of HSD and became Total Solvants and then Total Fluids in 2004. Total Fluides changed its name to TotalEnergies Fluids in July 2021.
